Rainy Day Rock Project

Music has a way of carrying us through life’s hardest seasons. Unfortunately, those same seasons can make even a necessary instrument repair feel out of reach.

I started the Rainy Day Rock Project to help musicians facing financial hardship get back to making music. Through this program, I provide assistance with essential repairs that restore guitars to a safe, reliable, and playable condition.

Every application is reviewed personally, kept strictly confidential, and considered based on individual circumstances and the resources available to the program.

When evaluating applications, I am considering:

• Limited funding and repair slots

• The demonstrated financial need 

• If the instrument is repairable within the program budget​

• That the beneficiary is actively playing or learning
   

Things to remember:

• Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance

• Each month, previously submitted and new applications are (re)evaluated

This program exists, in part, to honor my late grandfather, Richard Wendell Ackerman, whose spirit of selfless volunteerism and lifelong dedication to education and teaching continues to inspire me.
 

Were it not for his influence during my formative years, EGW Guitars simply wouldn’t exist. His values: sharing knowledge freely, helping others without expecting anything in return, and believing that learning has the power to change lives are at the core of this business. It is my hope that through this effort, a few more musicians can overcome the financial barriers standing between them and the music that matters most.
