The flagship of the EGW fleet was hand sketched in a living room while killing time with my kids during the pandemic. Clearer and clearer it become with only a few non-negotiables: double cutaway, unobstructed access to the highest fret, would accommodate any hardware profile or scale length without negatively impacting the feel of the instrument, and unique design the world had never seen.

I would eventually take the paper design to a friend of mine who knew how to use a CNC. I had only one known measurement – neck pocket width. The template for the first model came out and was entirely too large. After shaving it down about .5 inches all around – I had the first production RYE90NiNE template.
